There are many ways in which you can be involved in the work of the JFPA. Our current members include academics, teachers, activists, and many citizens interested in our mission.

Who are we?

Jamaica Family Planning Association (JFPA) is a non-government and non-profit organization that has operated in Jamaica since 1957.

The Association, is a member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation/ Western Hemisphere Region, operating within national policy guidelines to provide a wide variety of services for children, young adults, and adults.

The Youth Advocacy movement (YAM) was established in the late 1990s. YAM represents one of the most important initiatives of the Association’s 62-year history. The movement is operated by youth volunteers and focuses on the development and empowerment of young people through capacity strengthening activities.

The Association is involved in a number of special programmes including the Associated Clinic Programme and the Waterford Women’s Boost Initiative (WWBI)

International Planned Parenthood Federation – IPPF

International Planned Parenthood Federation is an international agency that operates in 6 regions: Africa, Arab World, East, and South East Asia and Oceania, Europe, Western Hemisphere, and South Asia. IPPF promotes sexual rights and aims to provide sexual and reproductive health services across the world.

Ministry of Health and Wellness (Jamaica) -MOH

This is the national machinery that responds to the health needs of the country. The Ministry delivers care to Jamaican through four regional health authorities. They are: the South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA), North East Regional Health Authority (NERHA), Southern Regional Health Authority (SRHA) and Western Regional Health Authority (WRHA)

AIDS Healthcare Foundation( Jamaica) – AHF

This Non-profit organization contributes to the national response in the fight against the HIV epidemic. This global network operates in over 43 countries providing people living with HIV with treatment and care.

Caribbean Vulnerable Community- CVC

This is a non-governmental coalition that serves groups vulnerable to HIV/AIDS and stigma and discrimination. Targeted groups include sex workers, marginalized children, and youth, drug users, and transgender people. CVC aims to reduce the prevalence of HIV/AIDS while trying to remove the barriers that perpetuate stigma and discrimination within society.
